Product Detail

The Eventide Omnipressor, introduced in the early 1970s, was the very first dynamics effects processor. Invented by Eventide's founder Richard Factor, it opened the door to a wide range of effects. It offers variable control over all aspects of dynamic modification, introduced the'side chain' concept, and foresaw techniques like 'look ahead' processing that we use today. The Omnipressor plug - in is a faithful emulation of the 'black - face' unit. It's a favorite among top producers and engineers globally as a dynamics modifier with adjustable controls for a signal's dynamics. The Function control lets you set compression and expansion ratios continuously from extreme expansion to infinite compression and even dynamic reversal, which flips a sound's envelope. Features include dynamics processing for unique sounds, variable attack and release times, control of maximum gain and attenuation, and much more. It supports MacOS 10.9 - 12 and Windows 8 - 11, requires an Intel, AMD, or Apple Silicon CPU, and a free iLok account with iLok License Manager. Available in 64 - bit AAX Native, AU, VST2, VST3 formats, with native Apple Silicon compatibility for all but AAX.

Using the Eventide Omnipressor is quite straightforward. First, make sure your system meets the requirements - you need a Mac from OS 10.9 to 12 or a Windows 8 - 11 machine, an Intel, AMD, or Apple Silicon CPU, and a free iLok account with the License Manager. Install the plug - in in the appropriate format for your system (AAX Native, AU, VST2, VST3, all 64 - bit). Once installed, open it in your audio software. Use the Function dial to set different compression or expansion ratios. You can start with one of the dozens of presets to get a feel for the unique sounds it can create. When adjusting the attack and release times, play around with the settings to see how they affect the sound. For gating, set a threshold, and any signals below it will be reduced. Be careful not to over - compress or expand, as it can make the sound unnatural. As for maintenance, keep your iLok account up - to - date and your operating system patched. If you're using an Apple Silicon device, note that AAX format isn't natively supported.
