Usually, you don't have to make any adjustments in the IRDX Core plugin. However, if you want the most natural response, use the automatic input calibration. It will listen to your guitar signal and set a good input level. There are two modes to choose from: 'Normal' gives you subtle speaker movement, compression, and distortion, while 'Intense' makes these effects more obvious. Listen to both and pick the one that suits your music. As for maintenance, since it's a software plugin, just keep your DAW and the plugin updated to ensure it works smoothly.
