Product Detail
The gate is a crucial tool for audio engineers. Tactically, it can get rid of or reduce unwanted bleed and background noise in recorded materials. Creatively, its uses are endless. Before, Slate users had to use gates from their DAW or third - party plugins. But now, it's a new era! We're introducing two new gate modules: Gate: Classic and Gate: Drums. You can enjoy a huge range of gating options without leaving your Virtual Mix Rack workflow. Gate: Classic is a simple yet powerful traditional gate. It's great at removing background noise from guitars, vocals, and other acoustically - recorded sources. Gate: Drums is a highly advanced drum application. It combines transient - based gating with smart dynamic filtering to give you much cleaner drum tracks than a regular gate. Gate: Classic has a classic setup with parameters like threshold, ratio, etc., and two modes: Classic for standard amplitude - based detection and Vocal for better detecting vocal breathing. It also has accurate sidechain filters for creative mixing. Gate: Drums works on transient input. You can separate the transient from the signal tail and process them differently. It's divided into sections for transient detection, gating, debleeding, and more, with features like detection filters, threshold control, and release speed adjustment.
Using the Slate Digital Gates Bundle is easy. For Gate: Classic, if you're working on acoustic recordings like guitars or vocals, first set the threshold to determine when the gate starts working. Adjust the ratio, range, attack, and release to get the desired noise reduction. You can choose between the Classic and Vocal modes depending on your source. If it's vocals, the Vocal mode can help handle breathing sounds better. When using Gate: Drums, start with the Transient Detection section. Adjust it to catch only the transients you want. Then move on to the Gate section to set the floor and timing. The Debleed section can filter the tail of the signal when a transient is detected. You can also use the Detection Filters to make the gate react only to certain frequencies. For maintenance, make sure your software is up - to - date to get the best performance. If you encounter any issues, check the Slate Digital support website for troubleshooting guides. And always keep your audio files backed up in case something goes wrong during processing.
