Product Detail
Mix your audio with the unique color of three classic analog consoles. Analog consoles are famous for their rich, deep, and harmonically complex sound, not because they're flawless, but because of their imperfections. Professional engineers love how analog summing colors audio, and now, Waves has worked hard to capture the sounds of three outstanding analog consoles. Whether you like the solid - state console that made thousands of hits, the tone of vintage British tubes, or the console used for recording The Dark Side of the Moon, NLS brings these sounds to your DAW. It's modeled after the consoles of master mixers and producers Mark 'Spike' Stent (Paul McCartney), Mike Hedges (The Cure), and Yoad Nevo (Sia). Key features include modeling the interaction between the summing bus and channel preamps, covering 96 channels with every input and summing bus amp, allowing you to mix and match different consoles on different channels, controlling harmonic distortion with the Drive control, adding accurately modeled preamp hiss if you want, choosing 'line in' for clarity or using the mic preamp - based input, having a logical interface to group controls for global tweaks, and VCA groups to control NLS and serve as standard VCA channels.
Using the Waves NLS Non - Linear Audio Summer is quite easy. First, open your DAW and load the NLS plugin. You can choose from the different modeled analog consoles based on your preference. For example, if you're aiming for a classic hit - making sound, go for the solid - state console model. When you're mixing, you can mix and match different console models on various channels to create a unique sonic blend. Use the Drive control to adjust the harmonic distortion to add some character to your audio. If you want a bit of that authentic preamp hiss, you can turn it on. For the input, choose 'line in' when you need clear audio, or use the mic preamp - based input to get a more compressed sound. The interface is designed logically, so you can easily group controls for overall adjustments. And don't forget about the VCA groups which can control NLS and act as standard VCA channels. As for maintenance, make sure your DAW and the Waves plugin are always updated to the latest version. This will ensure the best performance and compatibility. Also, keep your computer in good condition with enough memory and processing power to run the plugin smoothly.
